Two-dimensional Wide-Angle X-ray Scattering on a Cm-doped borosilicate glass in a beryllium container

The two-dimensional wide-angle X-ray diffraction technique was applied to a Cm-doped borosilicate glass in beryllium container. experiment involved high-energy beam and an image plate. It is shown that it possible extract the structure factor of radioactive successfully from patterns compare with pristine one. Striking differences appear under first peak, revealing new sub-structures for glass. suggested they could be related structural changes medium-range order, particular size distribution rings or chains influence mixed interactions between network, α-particles recoil nuclei.

A pinhole-type two-dimensional ultra-small-angle X-ray scattering set-up at a so-called medium-length beamline at SPring-8 is reported. A long sample-to-detector distance, 160.5 m, can be used at this beamline and a small-angle resolution of 0.25 µm(-1) was thereby achieved at an X-ray energy of 8 keV.
